Vestcom is seeking a Sales Director to lead the Walgreens-focused sales effort from Chicago, overseeing strategy to win with senior Walgreens leadership and shift CPG shopper budgets toward Vestcom Media Solutions. This executive role blends high-level relationship management with cross-functional leadership to drive revenue growth and ensure effective deployment of VMS campaigns across the team.
The position is based in Chicago, IL with a hybrid work setup and may require travel to client sites and events across the region, up to 25% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Lead the formulation and execution of sales strategies and plans for the Walgreens sales team.
- Develop and nurture senior-level relationships across Walgreens to secure support for Vestcom Media Solutions.
- Engage Walgreens functional groups (Merchandising, Marketing, Loyalty, etc.) to obtain buy-in for VMS.
- Prospect local CPG Shopper Teams to secure media spend behind VMS products and services.
- Confidently deliver the Vestcom shelf edge value proposition and influence clients through deep knowledge of solutions, products, and services.
- Apply strong analytical skills to interpret retailer and CPG metrics at top-line and bottom-line levels.
- Exhibit exceptional listening and creative problem-solving abilities to advance opportunities.
- Manage a personal quota in the tens of millions and grow the VMS shopper sales team into a collaborative, strategic selling unit.
- Own prospecting approaches and craft presentations and proposals that position VMS as a compelling shopper media value proposition.
- Administer the sales pipeline and maintain strong close rates to achieve revenue goals.
- Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting using the existing CRM tool.
- Monitor customer, market, and competitor activity and relay insights to the leadership team.
- Understand market dynamics and advocate for next-generation digital solutions.
- Represent VMS at tradeshows and local retailer and marketing events.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Vestcom’s Executive, Marketing, Strategy, Business Development, Finance, Solutions, and Shopper teams to support the sales process.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and controls in line with Sarbanes-Oxley Act 404.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum 10+ years of sales experience with Retail/CPG focus in marketing or sales organizations.
- Experience with leading CPG brands or large marketing services providers required.
- Knowledge of Brand, Retail, Shopper Marketing and Media landscapes.
- Track record of achieving top-line revenue and bottom-line targets.
- Experience in consultative, data-driven selling and developing go-to-market strategies.
- Strong negotiation, account management, strategic selling, category management, forecasting, and modern sales skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to lead and mentor a team; hunter mindset.
- Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to embody Vestcom’s core values and succeed in a hybrid Chicago-based role with travel.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% and to work from Vestcom’s Chicago office several days per week, with client site travel as needed.

Additional Information
The salary range for this position is $123,675 - $184,688 per year. The stated base range reflects what Avery Dennison reasonably expects to pay for this role as of the posting date. Actual compensation will vary within the range based on factors including skills, experience, education, training, location, and job scope.
