Job Description

The Ophthalmology Sales Manager will drive the promotion and sale of Topcon Healthcare’s Diagnostic and Refractive instrument platform across North and South Carolina. The role requires residence in one of these states and involves travel of at least 50 percent, with a remote work arrangement in South Carolina.

Responsibilities

  • Market and sell clinical diagnostic instruments, including OCT systems, retinal cameras, corneal topographers, refractive devices, and Topcon’s Harmony Healthcare Digital Management System.
  • Develop and update an annual business plan on a quarterly basis, outlining clear action items and strategies to achieve quarterly and annual quotas.
  • Plan and manage territory activities to optimize time spent prospecting, developing existing accounts, securing orders, and achieving the defined sales targets.
  • Coordinate with sales management and cross-functional teams (Customer Service, Product Service, Marketing, Finance, etc.) to address competitive, territory, order status, and complaint issues in accordance with the Topcon QMS.
  • Perform regular instrument demonstrations each week, tailoring presentations and materials to meet individual customer needs.
  • Maintain ongoing customer relationships as a consultant, information source, problem solver, and educator.
  • Keep account profiles in the customer relationship management system up to date on an ongoing basis.
  • Undertake special projects or duties that support personal development and company objectives.
  • Collaborate with Topcon sales and marketing teams to uncover and win opportunities and promote Topcon Healthcare.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience selling capital equipment into ophthalmology practices, ASCs, hospital systems, IDNs, government and national accounts preferred.
  • Business-to-business sales experience demonstrating a solid understanding of the sales process and ethical practices.
  • Experience engaging with C-level executives and strategic selling skills strongly preferred.
  • Proven record of top performance in prior sales roles.
  • Understanding of health insurance and payers strongly preferred.
  • Strong presentation skills, business acumen, and leadership qualities.
  • Solid grasp of sales metrics, performance measures, and technical indicators.
  • Analytical and strategic thinking abilities with a thorough aptitude for analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client-relations skills.
  • Negotiation, conflict resolution, and presentation skills.
  • Dynamic and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Client-focused mindset.
  • Residence in North Carolina or South Carolina is required.

Compensation

  • Base salary: USD 100,000 annually
  • Car allowance: Eligible for a $600 monthly car allowance
  • Sales incentives: Eligible for certain sales incentives/commissions

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Overnight travel up to 25 to 50 percent of the time, including occasional weekends and holidays
  • Must live no more than 1.5 hours from a major U.S. airport
  • Ability to work remotely
  • Extensive travel by plane and automobile
  • Physical: lifting and lowering boxes and instruments (25-100 lbs)
  • Standing for extended periods during trade shows
