Job Description

Vertiv's Sales Development Program in Computer Science Technical Sales is an onsite opportunity based in Delaware, Ohio. The program trains recent graduates for a career in technical sales, starting as an Application Engineer and progressing toward technical sales roles, with structured mentorship and exposure to multiple facets of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Develop deep knowledge of Vertiv's solution set, including AC power products, thermal systems, and related services.
  • Assist in approving customizations of Vertiv's products and solutions.
  • Engage with customers through inbound and outbound calls to identify and discuss needs and requirements.
  • Prepare and respond to Requests for Proposal from customers and prospects.
  • Maintain regular collaboration with Sales Leaders and participate in ongoing discussions and planning.
  • Operate with various sales tools such as product configurators, proposal development platforms, and MS Power BI.
  • Travel to Field Sales offices to support customer-facing meetings and activities.
  • Collaborate with Sales Leaders focused on specific verticals, including Healthcare, Retail, Education, Finance, and Government sectors.
  • Deliver presentations and training sessions for colleagues and sales teams.

Program Mission

The program aims to build a robust pipeline of sales talent by developing foundational selling skills, providing mentorship, and offering exposure to multiple areas of the business. Success is measured by a diverse new-hire slate, improved retention within the sales organization, and effective execution of business initiatives.

Program Details

During the first year, participants serve as Application Engineers, gaining familiarity with Vertiv’s products, systems, and processes while delivering technical support to sales teams and customers. In the second year, participants expand their exposure to technical sales, accelerating toward a dedicated sales opportunity.

Career Path After Completion

Upon successful completion of the program, participants are positioned to assume a technical sales role, applying their training to cultivate customer relationships and drive business growth at Vertiv.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Strong written and presentation communication skills
  • Proficient with spreadsheets, databases, and MS Office
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented mindset
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and implement process solutions with measurable outcomes
  • Adaptable and motivated to learn and advance

Position Eligibility Requirements

This onsite role is located at one of Vertiv's central Ohio locations. Travel may be required up to 10%. The program seeks candidates who want a career in sales and are willing to relocate if needed after program completion.
