Job Description
The Business Development Manager for Utility T&D at StressCrete Group leads market expansion within the Utility Transmission and Distribution sector, building direct relationships with utilities, engineering consultants, EPC firms, and contractors to drive growth of concrete utility pole solutions through technical, pricing, and strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Direct market expansion efforts and contribute to StressCrete Group’s long‑term growth strategy in the Utility T&D sector.
- Establish and nurture direct relationships with utilities, engineering consultants, EPC firms, and contractors while expanding concrete utility pole specifications in new and existing accounts.
- Develop customer‑specific written technical specifications and utility standards as required.
- Offer technical support to customers, Manufacturing Sales Representatives, and Territory Managers regarding the concrete utility pole product line.
- Collaborate with Engineering to ensure customer requirements are met and implement product modifications as needed.
- Provide market intelligence and competitive insights to shape pricing, positioning, and product strategy.
- Deliver strategic pricing analysis to Territory Managers when pricing concrete utility pole opportunities.
- Influence the recruitment of new sales agents and recommend regional manufacturer sales representatives.
- Support specification development, utility approvals, and competitive bids.
- Partner with Growth Team leadership to increase SCGRP market share in the utility T&D market.
- Coordinate with Marketing and Territory Managers on targeted campaigns and detailed proposals for concrete utility pole solutions.
- Represent StressCrete Group at national and regional utility, transmission, and distribution conferences.
- Maintain a solid understanding of structural requirements, loading criteria, and design considerations for utility pole structures.
- Perform additional assignments as needed by the operating unit or company.
- Develop and deliver presentations on StressCrete’s concrete utility pole solutions to current and prospective customers, consultants, utilities, and local representatives.
Requirements
- Post secondary education in a business, technical, or sales related field.
- Minimum 3 years of sales experience required; 3–5 years of sales experience is an asset.
- Proven ability to lead all stages of the sales cycle, including uncovering opportunities, qualifying leads, developing proposals, and closing deals.
- Salesforce experience is an asset.
- Ability to develop and maintain enduring professional relationships.
- Curiosity and a commitment to learning, including mastery of technical specifications for the products.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills for interpreting sales performance and market trends.
- Ability to work autonomously in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent time management with a high degree of self‑direction.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates a high standard of work and customer service.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
- Willingness to travel across North America up to 50% of the time.
