Business Development Representative
Job Description
Develop new business within the Knoxville market by acquiring customers and expanding existing accounts through strategic sales activities.
Responsibilities
- Proactively identify and win new customers in the assigned territory through targeted networking and lead development.
- Spot growth opportunities and qualify prospects for new customer acquisition.
- Strengthen customer loyalty and expand accounts by building strong client relationships.
- Execute strategic sales initiatives to meet and exceed sales targets.
- Consult with clients to understand their business needs and propose workforce solutions that fit.
- Effectively market PeopleReady service offerings to potential buyers.
- Coordinate with contracts and legal teams to negotiate favorable terms.
- Apply competitive bill rates while maintaining healthy margins on all contracts.
- Keep the appropriate branch informed of distinctive customer details that may impact service delivery.
- Proactively identify cross-sell opportunities across TrueBlue brands and neighboring markets.
- Develop account management and sales plans to grow wallet share and improve retention.
- Lead formal business reviews with key customers to assess performance and uncover growth opportunities.
- Utilize the right technology to develop and sustain comprehensive account growth strategies.
- Stay informed on industry trends, competitors, and market developments to position TrueBlue offerings effectively.
- Mentor and coach other sales representatives and client-facing staff.
Requirements
- Three or more years of relevant sales experience; a Bachelor's or Associate degree, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
- Manage a portfolio valued at at least $2.5 million annually.
- Sales experience in one or more blue-collar market verticals.
- Proven track record of consistently surpassing sales targets.
- Experience identifying, adopting, and applying new technologies.
- Valid driver’s license, insured vehicle, and current vehicle insurance.
- Clear, concise, and professional written and verbal communication.
- Adept at persuading diverse customer stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze orders, associates, and client data to drive informed decisions.
- Competitive drive and a proactive approach to achieving goals.
- Ability to establish rapport with a wide range of individuals.
- Capacity to understand multiple client perspectives and adapt accordingly.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Salesforce.com for sales management and reporting.

Location
Knoxville, TN
Salary Range
USD $61,500 - $79,077 annually, dependent on experience and geographic location, plus eligibility for incentive pay, subject to plan terms. This role is part of a job family, and compensation is determined by experience for the position level.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Operates within a remote work structure but is primarily a field-based sales role.
- Requires dedicating more than 50% of time to outside sales activities and client engagement.
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, talking, and hearing for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.
- Travel to customer sites and local branches is required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
