Community Liaison
Job Description
The Community Liaison role is based onsite in Detroit Lakes, MN, with coverage across the Minnesota Territory including Grand Forks, ND, Detroit Lakes, MN, and Fargo, ND. The position supports an inpatient psychiatric unit and drives referral development through ethical marketing alongside active engagement with community and referral sources.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate and apply Sales Excellence and Service Recovery standards in daily activities.
- Serve as the liaison between the facility and referral sources; implement service-oriented action plans that meet referral source needs; act as a community resource and representative; conduct facility tours for key stakeholders.
- Attend Business Development team meetings and provide marketing updates, service recovery opportunities, and reporting to the Director of Business Development in a timely manner.
- Maintain documentation for top accounts, key contacts, planning reports, client profiles, competitive profiles, and updates as directed by the Director of Business Development.
- Cultivate positive, productive relationships with existing referral sources and identify opportunities to expand the referral network.
- Maximize field-based time while maintaining a daily average of 8-10 in-person contacts with assigned referral sources regarding facility programs, treatment philosophies, clinical outcomes, and satisfaction data.
- Develop and communicate sales messaging tailored to each program and to each target audience.
- Identify and build a strategic sales plan for current and potential referral sources within the assigned territory and target markets, incorporating relevant research findings.
- Assess, develop, and implement approved sales activities to achieve maximum market penetration and identify potential accounts in targeted segments.
- Monitor referral inquiries and admissions statistics daily and analyze weekly sales action plans for effectiveness.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends and adjust weekly sales action plans accordingly; provide recommendations to overall business development planning.
- Ensure positive, timely, and accurate communication; foster cooperation and employ problem-solving to strengthen relationships among the facility, referral sources, patients, families, and the community.
- Keep information current in MedSeries 4, MIDAS, and MEDIK, including daily contact logs and up-to-date account details; utilize proprietary reports to guide sales activity.
- Complete required reports and information requests promptly, including expense reports, sales call plans, and post-call follow-up reports.
- Participate in off-hours sales and community activities as required by the Director of Business Development and facility needs.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a related field is required. Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree on a case-by-case basis.
- Experience: Prior marketing or sales experience within a behavioral healthcare setting is preferred; at least three years of documented experience in referral development, account management, sales growth, and physician relationships is preferred.
- Licensure: Valid driver’s license is required.
